You will need this tube I made of my hibiscus.
Unzip and install it. In PSP8
You install a tube by opening it in the program, and then click export/as picture tube, then give
it a name and click OK.
Lets open a new project. You can make your tag smaller or bigger, but this is what mine is set at

We want to add our name (or a word). Click on the text tool

These are my settings for my text. If you have a larger word or name, then you may need to make your project bigger or your text smaller.

Color is not important, we will add color in a little while, make sure you use a nice fat font. When you added your text, it added a vector layer in your layers menu, that is fine. Now click on the raster layer below your text. And we want to click on the picture tube tool, and find my flower tube.

We want to add one more raster layer, by clicking the add layer tool.

On my project, I add a tube by the first letter in my name, it is set at 50 scale, I make sure my raster layer is behind
my vector layer in my layers pallet, and that I am placing the tube on one of the raster layers. You can
add rename the raster layers, as flower one, and flower 2.
This is how mine looks

Now click on the flower 2 layer, and add another tube near the last letter in your name (you can add more if you like), , but this one I click Image/Mirror

This will flip my flower tube over ontop of my first one, that is OK, just click your mover tool

And I place mine here...

Back to your layers pallet, you want to go to your vector layer, and click the little +

When you do, you will see your name/word

Double click on your name/word and your text box will open, make sure your word is highlighted

Now we want to go to our materals pallet and click on your background color that is filling your text.

When your material window opens, click on gradient.

Click on the edit button in this window

Now click on the new button

A little window will open and this is for your to name your new gradient you are going to make!

Now you will see this line.

This is how we make a new gradient. Click on the first bottle, and then go to your flower tube, and search of a color you like. Just move your cursor around the flower, and you will see it changes.

If you click your mouse button your first bottle changes to that color!

If you go a little bit away from the first bottle and click right under the line of color, another bottle appears, again, go to your flower and choose another color.

You can add as many color and bottles as you like, just repeat as many times as you like. Here is my new gradient

When you are done, click OK. And now in the window, you see your new gradient!

I add these settings to my gradient

When I click Ok, my text looks like this...

I want to add a stroke to my text, to put an outline on my text. I choose 4.0

If your stroke material pallet is off, you can click below and turn it on

When you turn it on, go to gradient, and find your new gradient you made

Now you want to add these settings, and make the agnle go the opposite way as the gradient already in your text.

The stroke should almost make your text look beveled!

Now right click on your top layer in your layers pallet and choose to merge visable.

Now we want to crop our name. So click on the crop tool,

To use the crop too, I start at the upper left corner, click and drag down toward the lower right corner.

You can adjust once the crop tool is drawn out. And finally, just double click on the crop line for it to take effect

When it is cropped, it looks like this

Now add new raster layer.

You want to drag this layer to the bottom. Just click and hold, then move it down, or right click on the layer, choose arrange, then choose move down. With your raster layer highlighted, you want to click your fill tool

Again, click on your material pallet and then go to your flower and find a color you like.

My tag now looks like this

We want a little texture, so lets go to

I choose these settings

And then I add an inner bevel to my background

This can be found under effects/3D/inner bevel at the top.
With these settings

I click on my top layer, which is my text and tubes, and I want to add a drop shadow.

Or go to effects/3d/drop shadow.
I use these settings

I got my shadow color by again, clicking on the color rectangle in drop shadow, and going to my flower tube, finding a color that I liked

And we are done! Hope you enjoyed this lesson.
This lesson was done as one
of my lessons following the yahoogroup Stepping Stones Through PSP, as I learned how to use the
program. Thanks to them and all their help.
