We are making this:

I saw this for PSP and I loved the effect, so here I am making a lesson for it.
First you pick a picture you like. You can download the one I used if you wish:

Just right click on pick and SAVE AS!

You also need the plugin called FRITILLARY by Xero plugins There are 4 sets of plugins on this page, you will need set #4 to get the fritillary plugin. See my lesson on installing plugins!

Click to open your picture

This picture I have used is jpg, so we can use the background already attached. But we don't want boring white. So use the magic wand

When you click on the wand, your settings should come up mine are at these settings, it might help to use my settings.

When you have clicked the white, it should select the white part of your picture. Once you see the "marching ants" you will click CTRL+d to duplicate the white area, leaving the first picture unharmed below. Now click on the new background you made and you want to fill it with color.

You can choose any color you want, I settle for a nice light blue.

And I now have this

We now want to apply the plugin.

A window will pop up that looks like this

There are endless ways you can arrange the levers to get different effects. And the plugin doesn't remember you last settings, so you will have to write them down. You can save them if you like also. If I change these levers

My background looks like this when I click done

I think the squares are too small. So I click the plugin again and go in and start over. If I change this lever

My picture now looks like this

I go back in and this time, here are the settings I settle on

And my first frame looks like this

Now click FILE/SAVE AS and name it something like b1.png. You will repeat the process 2 more times for a total of 3 times, I like 3 because the animation looks good. BUT remember to ALWAYS click UNDO

BEFORE applying the plugin again! Once I click undo, I go back in and I set the plugin up again, all of the levers moved to the numbers I used in frame 1, except for the bottom lever, you want to move that one at least one number up, to change the blocks look. Here are my next 2 lever settings

I now have my 3 frames. I close everything! Now open just your 3 saved frames.

Click TOOLS/FLIPBOOK

Click NEXT in the first 2 windows of animation. The 3rd window has your size, adjust it to what you want your animaton to be

The next window, you will set the speed of your animaton. I like 0.4 or 0.5

Once you have the way you like it, save it! And you are done. You can use this plugin for many different uses. Here are some examples!
