Grandfather Clocks

This tutitorial can be done in many ways, this is just the ground rules, you can try many looks and textures, just be creative!

You start with a tall rectangle of wood texture.

This tut you will do in parts. Here are the different parts you need to make

You need to make a copy of the back of the clock and cut out the middle.

Place the cutout "clock front" on top of the "clock back" place a shadow behind the cutout, so you can see it in the inside of the cutout square.

You need to choose a fancy "filagree" looking graphic. I found this one in my graphics software under "corners". I cut it out, and filled the cutout with the same wood texture as the back and front of the clock.

You will need to make it beveled, there is a beveling tut. You will need 5 of them and one will be cut off like this

I placed 2 at the top, 2 at the bottom and the cut one in the middle of the 2 bottom ones.

Now you need to make the wooden sticks for decoration.

I just chose a small letter "l" from text that was more or less a line, then I filled it with wood texture & beveled. I copy and pasted a total of 5. 2 at the top one on each side and a short one on top of the cut filagree that was cut. Now you need to make the clock face.

Again, this is in parts.

Part A is the bottom of the clock face. To make this, open a square, fill with gold gradient and cut out a circle in the middle of the square. Part B is one of the rings around the face. To make this, I made a copu of part A and cut out the middle to make a ring and then beveled it. I then placed it around part A. Part C is the 2nd ring on the face. I made it the same way as part B, but it isn't beveled, instead I filled it with the gradient gold that has the lines in and put a soft shadow behind it. I place this inside part B. (NOTE, there is NO part D, I forgot it!)Part E you add your numbers. You can add all number, or some or just little objects where the numbers would go. I place them in the right place around the inside of Part C. Part F are your clock hands. You can find arrow dingbats or you can use an small "l" and "v" locked together! Place them in any positions you want. Part G is are just tiny Part B's to look like the hands are connected! I put them in the middle then put the hands on top of them. Next you make the pendulum. This is 2 parts and then locked together so you can move them. Part one is the line, I just filled with gold to match the face and beveled it. Then I made another copy of the bottom (part A) of the clock face and beveled it. I place the line part behind the clock face and the round part on top of the line at the bottom. These you need to lock together, because you need to move it and save each position, to make the flipbook animation.

I found that you can move the pendulum 4 times to get the moving effect. Each time you move it, save as GIF format. Name them c1, c2, c3, & c4. Go into flipbook animation and open all 4 of them. Click on c1, then hold down the CTRL button and click on c2, c3 & c4, then will open in order. Then follow the directions for flipbook! You should now have your clock with the moving pendulum!
