This lesson was made for PI2002 by request and it to make an Oval Frame from a cutout. Here is what we will make...
First open your program, and open a graphic by going to OPEN AND EDIT/MY COMPUTER. To make it easier for you, just right click on this...
save it in on your computer, now when you go to OPEN AND EDIT/MY COMPUTER open this blank blue graphic.
Now you will go here...
choose the circle...
Stretch it to the shape of an oval
You want to get rid of the black outline, so go up to the top and click on
And click on this
And click here to get rid of the black line
To make your oval a frame, you will need to cut out the center. To do this, you will go here...
Choose the COOKIE CUTTER
Choose the circle
It will look like this...
Strecth your cutout to fit inside your oval, as a second oval. The distance between the first oval and the cutout oval is how thick your frame will be, so you can adjust it to what you like. It should look something like this
Click NEXT, now you HAVE to click this
Your oval will now look like this
The inside is lighter and will be the part that is going to be cut out. When you click DONE, it should look like this
Now to make it look like a frame, you will have to bevel it. You will go here
I choose a gold color
When I fill with a color in this version, it sends the shape back to a circle, but that is OK, just reshape it.
Now dupicate your oval by click on it, then clicking CTRL+d. You now choose the lower picture to your right in the stack. Click on it. And go back to FILL WITH COLOR and fill it with a darker gold color
Be sure that the dark oval is on the BOTTOM and the light one is on top. Now you need to apply soft edges to the top lighter oval. To do this, you will click on the top oval in the stack.
Go here
You will adjust it by click or dragging the lever
The higher the number, the less light color that will show. You can play with this. Also the more light color, the less dark color, and this will either make your bevel look more round or more flat. I chose "8" as you can see. And it looks like this
If you want your frame to look a little fancier, you can add an illusion
You can also add things like gems
And for a nice look, you can always duplicate your oval frame, and make one smaller than the other for a double look
Remember to save in PNG, so that you can change it later! Here is a frame picture!
