Here is what we are going to make.

Frames are one of the easiest things to add to a picture to make it look nice. But I also think this gives you a reason to use the Distort tool, also! This would be great for photo on a website. And these frames are great, because you don't need anything xtra to make it, unless you want to add doodads. I love this filter and have been working on doing something with it for a while, and finally found something useful ;-) This is a basic lesson and you can do lots more than just the basic if you want, but I wanted to keep it easy. I used DIP10, but all versions of PI/DIP/DI have this tool.
You can use this graphic if you want

Open the graphic. You want to duplicate it (CTRL+d).

Click the top layer and make it smaller, so you can see the bottom layer.

Click on the bottom layer in your stack

Go to EFFECTS/DISTORT (NOT distort brush!) Go to the bottom and click on this filter

Your bottom layer should look like this

At this point, sometimes, depending on the graphic/photo you use and the color, you may want to stop, the frame would be nice looking, but I don't care for this one, so I go back to the distort tool and apply the same filter again. And I now have this

Again sometimes this is fine, but I want it to look more uniform, so I want to line up the lines in the frame, making it more even looking.

When evened up, it will look like this

You can crop or not, because the xtra unwanted part is in the grey part of the work area, when saved it wont show up. I now duplicate again the graphic.

Again, make the the top layer smaller, and fill the 2nd layer with a matching color from the graphic

And there ya go! An easy, nice looking frame :-) Here are some others I made in the same way, just a little more fancy looking!

This frame was made by appling the filter once. Then I applied a texture filter. I also applied 3 colors around the graphic.

This frame is also with the filter applied once, then I added lines around the graphic and then some little silver doodads.

Once again, added the filter once, and the line around the graphic was filled with a gradient of black and red.

This frame was made by the distort tool applied 2 times, but only the first time was made with the aboved mentioned filter, then I used the last filter in the distort filters to get this effect.

This frame is the filter appied 2 times. A nice fancy looking patteren!

The distort tool was applied once, then doodads and lines.

Also applied 2 times.
