If you want to make a simple frame for your collage in DIP9, this is how you do it! Actually, you can frame anything with this method!
After you have picked your template, filled it with your texture/picture

You will go to your tool bar, and click on

And this window will open up

Choose your shape, square in this case. You need to decide how thick you want your frame. Your icon will look like this

I always start in the upper lefthand corner. Place your cursor where you want to start. Click and hold the mouse button, moving your cursor toward the lower righthand corner of your collage. If you don't make it all the way, that is fine!

Go to your "selection window"

Click on ADUST MARQUEE

When you do, the slection on your collage will become milky and will now have sizing squares. Place your cursor over one of the sizers, click and hold down the mouse button and drag toward the edge of your collage to fit as you wish.

At this time you can also adjust the frame thickness, as you would like. You do have to eyeball the amount of frame on all 4 sides. Once you have them as you like them go to your slection window and click DONE

While you are at your selction window, click INVERT

You will now see 2 rows of "marching ants" around the actual part of the collage that will now be your frame.

Once you have the frame selected, you can either apply filters/plugins, or if you want to, you can click CTRL+d and duplcate your frame

Now it is up to your to fill with color or add filters or add plugins or do all!

What ever you like! You will repeat the steps to put frames around your photo openings, if you want to.

CLICK SELECTION SHAPE FROM TOOLBAR

Start this one away from the photo opening, so that you are actually making the outside of frame.

Here is the big difference in the small frame, you will need to go to the slection window and click on the "-" sign.

Start at the border of the photo opening and drag down to the right bottom

You will now have a frame selection

Now click the blue arrow on your toolbar

Now apply the same or even different frames than on the outside of your collage!
