This lesson is about making a wooden frame using DIP and the plug in filters from Eye Candy 4000. Although not all the filters in Eye Candy will work with DIP, most do and they are wonderful.
You start with a graphic, I have chosen a picture I had.

I first make a duplicate by clicking CTRL+d.

I then stack them on top of each other or drag the unused one to the side until I need it. I choose one of them, and am going to now cutout the middle, to make a frame. To do this, you will go to FORMAT/CREATE A CUTOUT/WITH A COOKIE CUTTER SHAPE.

You can see the cutout is already on the square shape,

now just resize it, you will need at least a 2-3 inch thick frame, the size it up to you though. To size, place you cursor over a gold ball until you see the 2 headed arrow and then hold down the mouse button and drag the way you want to make it bigger or smaller. When you like how it looks, then click next. You will need to click SELECT OPPOSITE AREA

and if you want you can click IN A SEPARTE PROJECT depending on if it confuses you if it leaves it in the one you have and you can't find it, you will see your new frame in the stack to your right, but you will need to delete the duplicate that remains to leave just the frame you made. You should now have something that looks like this.

Now place your new cutout frame on top of your orignal graphic. You can size your graphic down, so it shows all of it under the frame. We are now going to make your frame wooden and beveled.
First go to EFFECTS/PLUG-IN FILTERS.

You will go down to the w's and find WOOD.

Double click on wood and a work area will open up. You can see part or all of your frame and some other things.

If you go up to the top and click SETTINGS, you will get a dropdown menu of preset wood textures. You can however play around with the little sliders and make your own. Once you are pleased with your wood grain, you then click OK, you will then see your wood grain on your frame, at this point you need to leave the plugins work area, click done

If you don't close your plugins, your wood grain will not stay on your frame when you go to add the bevel. Now go to EFFECTS/PLUG-IN FILTERS again. This time go to BEVEL BOSS.

Again under settings are preset bevels, you can click through them if you like, and see what they do to your frame. You can also adjust the effect with the sliders. I find that just playing around really is the only way to get to know your likes and dislikes here. And you now have a wooden frame!
