We are making this

This is alot like the older lesson I did, but using the newer versions of PI/DIP. I have DIP10, so that is what I am going to use. I hope you have some knowledge of the program. You will open a new project.

You need to resize it down. I made this one too small in my opinion, but you can make them as big or little as you wish. I use measure by pixels, and this one is 200x150.
Go to FORMAT/RESIZE/RESIZE CANVAS

Once you have it the size you want, you will add a shape. INSERT/SHAPE and choose one, or INSERT/MORE SHAPES for others! I like heart, so here we have one added.

You will want to size it by make it bigger, so that it covers half of your space, the other half will need to be for the opened locket half. To get rid of the border, you will click

Go to the bottom and click MORE, then when the window opens click

Now you want to fill with the gold gradient

And this shape filter

Once you have it filled, you can duplicate it by clicking CTRL+d.

Click on the right one, you want to cutout the middle of the heart, mostly for the beveled look.

Click on your selection tool and choose the same shape that your locket is.

This is the part that makes it kinda hard, so you might want to start with a simple shape like a circle/oval/square. But any shape is possible. You have to use the selection tool, and place it in the middle of your shape as best as you can. I start at the upper left corner, click and drag toward the bottom, to sort of get my selection in the middle.

If you place it off center, you can click ADJUST MARQUEE in your selection tool window.

This makes the selection milky looking and adjustable, by dragging the corners around.

Once you have it the way you like it, you can click DONE in the selection tool window, and it will become a normal selection

Now go to EDIT/DELETE on your top menu. You now have a cutout

Click on the new cutout in your stack to the right and duplicate it (CTRL+d)

Click on the 2nd cutout (when you change it, you wont see the change yet), and go to EFFECTS/CHANGE HUE move the middle ball toward the center.

Once you have that done, you want to click on the top cutout and apply EFFECTS/EDGES/SOFT. This number is up to you, just move the lever over slowly and see the different effects!

Now it should look beveled! If it doesn't quiet work, apply the change hue on the bottom layer again. Now open your photo/graphic. When you do, you want to drag it onto your locket work area.

Resize it as you want.

In the above picture the graphic is sitting on top of the locket, you need to drag it down so that it sits at the bottom of the locket in the stack, that way it is under the locket.

Now back to your selection tool. Click it at the top, choose your shape (it should save it from the first time). MAKE SURE that you have clicked your photo/graphic BEFORE you do this step!!! Now you want to place the selection over your top of your locket, it doesn't have to be perfect because you only "trimming" your photo/graphic.

Once you have it placed (I place it in the middle of the beveled cutout) you will now check to make sure that your photo/graphic is selected in your stack, if not, click on it NOW! (or this step will not work!!!). Go to your selection tool window and click INVERT

If you did this right, your selection should look like this

What you have done is actually selected the outside of the photo, instead of the actual shape. Now you want to go to EDIT DELETE, and you now have your shape left of your photo/graphic.

AT this point you want to add a shadow on your gold cutout. If you click one of them in the stack, click and hold CTRL and click on the 2nd one, now a little lock will apply, click on it and lock it. See below I have pictures for doing this during the text.

Go to EFFECTS/SHADOW

Then click on this

It will start at this

And changed the settings to this

Just so I can see where the shadow is to resize it, because I want it on the inside, not the outside of the cutout.

I zoom in, so I can see it.

And it should look something like this

Now move to the left side of the locket, and you want to bevel this hear, it will be the outside of your locket. Duplicate it (CTRL+d). Click the bottom layer and apply change hue, just like the cutout we did. Then apply the soft edges to the top layer. They will look like this in your stack

Lock these 2 layer together.

Now drag it over to cover your right side.

Stop here and save this as locket1.png. This is your first frame for animation! Now, put it back where it was, on the left side. And click on the locked cutout in your stack, click CTRL+d. Now drag this over to your left side.

Once you have it place over your left side, you want to click on the lower layer of the left side (the heart) and fill it with a light colored gold.

It should look like this

Now you will add text to the left side. Click the text tool at the top menu. Choose a font you like and what you want it to say.

At this size, your font at it's smallest is still to big. BUT there is a way around this! Click on the text in your stack and click CTRL+d and duplicate it.

Click on one of them, click and hold down the CTRL button and click the other one to select both.

Your lock will appear

Click it to close it

Now grab the corner and make the text as small as you want it!

Place it on your left side and then save this as locket2.png and it is your 2nd frame for aniation. Now just animate it with flipbook. If you dont know how use flipbook. Close all your projects, then open just the 2 frames you saved. go to TOOLS/FLIPBOOK. Click through the first 2 windows without changing them, in the 3rd window you will choose your size, if you want it bigger or smaller or the same size. If you dont see your size, just click CUSTOM and type in the size you started with. Now the next window you will choose the speed. The faster you want it the lower the number, the slower you want it, the higher the number, it will always start at 3.0 I used 2.5 for this one. And I ended up duplicating the second frame 3 times so that it stays open longer. That is up to you. Then click and the next window will show you your animation. If you don't like it, you can always click BACK and change something.
And that is it! Here is one I made with Eyecandy 5!
