RESIZE

To resize any object in PI, you can do it one of 2 ways!

  1. The first way is to change the size before or even during working on your graphic. You go to SIZE/POSITION/CHANGE PICTURE SIZE

You will see the option for Portrait or Landscape. Next you see "Click a proportion". You can click this and choose different sizes, or you can go right below it and choose the size you want. I always choose PXL from the drop down menu above "Units", because I know how to judge the size this way. Anything under 150 pixle is very small, 200-300 pixle is a nice size, and over 300 is way big!

    200 Pixel

    300 Pixel

You can also change the shape of your graphic, if you unclick the "Maintain proportions" box or by moving the green resize dots at the bottom or side of your graphic

    The click Done!

  2. The other way is to do it right before you save it. When you click FILE/SAVE AS it brings up the save option.

At the top you see "My Pictures", this is where your graphic will go after it has been saved. If you are doing a set of something, this is great to change the "My Pictures" to the file you want the set in. The next thing is the "Save As This Type", in this drop down menu, you can choose what format you want your graphic saved in...jpg, gif, pi etc. Right under this drop down menu field you will see a little blue square click this box and open up your 2nd way to resize! If you are saving in PI format, you can not choose a size. But gif or jpg will let you choose what size you want to change it to. You will see "Select Options to Use When Saving this Picture". Find the EXPORT SIZE to the right, and click the drop down menu and choose a size or you can click the little square under it and type in the size you want. Click OK.

And finally if you just want to make an object smaller, in the square it takes up, you can use the green resize balls, just click on them and pull. Be sure to pull only the corners if you don't want your picture to out of proportions. Remember that this will only resize your object, it will save with the blank area around it as big as you see it. If you save in jpg, this will be a large white area, if you save in gif, this will be transparent, but may mess up your spacing of the graphic if used in e mail or on a web page.

To resize in Other versions it is the same, once you find where to do this at! So to find your resize area just read below.

Picture It! 2001

In this version, you must NOT be in BLANK PROJECTS. You will need to go to SHOW MY PICTURES & PROJECTS and click on MY DOCUMENTS. And open a graphic. To find your resize area you will go to SIZE AND POSITION/CHANGE PAGE SIZE and now you can resize. You can NOT use the saving option right before saving your graphic, this part is not included in PI2001. You can use the resize balls to resize an object, as above.

Picture It! 2002

You will have to make sure you are not in BLANK PROJECTS. Go to OPEN & EDIT and click on MY COMPUTER. Then open a graphic you want to work on or resize. Then go to CHANGE PAGE/CHANGE SIZE. Here you can change your graphic size. You can NOT change the size before saving with OPTIONS, so you need to save it before going to save it. You can resize an object but your resize balls are yellow instead of green.

Digital Image Pro

You can find your resize area by going to FORMAT/RESIZE IMAGE once you have opened the graphic to be resized. You can also save right before saving. You would click FILE/SAVE AS, then click

And a new window like this

will open. Here you can change the size by clicking on one of the sizes in the drop down menu. And you can resize an object with the sizing balls, but yours will be yellow
